A decent 3 star. With the hype of this movie with a starcast such as Karthi and Jayamravi and a compelling story, this movie unfortunately falls beneath the crushing weight of the expectations. While the movie is overall not a really good one, it remains a decent one and portrays several scenes well in a movie standard, especially the climax fight, with thrilling background music. AR rahman didn't fail to satisfy the musical part of this film, including songs such as Raatchasa mamaney. The actors have reprised their roles well. While the movie had its strengths, the rushed aspect that applies to any book converted film is really visible on this one, mainly to the book readers. While the first half was pretty good, with introductions of the characters and songs and a story that isn't much rushed. However the second half let much of the movie down, with one huge disappointment being Poonguzhali's character and screen time. This part of the movie just felt rushed and relied too heavily on its CGI and action rather than the story itself. However, as this movie was supposed to be the first 2 books of the series, rushing is inevitable. Considering all of this, it was not bad but still a 3 star. This movie would have worked better as a web series.
