Pamela Bruce Lockhart

I thought this book was brilliant. It has been so well researched. the characters were all well drawn and I found the descriptions of Vietnam so realistic I could smell the mould. It's a page turner but nothing is rushed and the build up and development of characters and events so well done. I am not American but I thought I knew something of what these people went through. How wrong I was! The second part, returning to America, and the treatment received is heartbreaking. It was right to show in so much detail how traumatic stress affects people, not just for a few months but for the rest of their lives.
