THE PERFECT MOVIE X-men: first class is a masterpiece. It maintains tension, entertainment and good pacing, there is never a dull or useless momment. It feels like a mythical movie. Like the Iliad there is a multitude of characters with understandable motives, everyone going through their own journey, everyone has their own perspective which makes sense based on their experience and believes. It is emotionally rich and mature. The stakes are high, the cold war being at its hottest in 1962 with the Cuban missle crisis. And at its center Shaw, the main villain, he is a perfect ploy to the main duo, with Charles wanting to find a merciful way and Eric seeking revenge, Shaw being so blatantly evil puts the conflict both on the physical and spiritual level. The acting, the music, the setpieces, the design. Its all so rich and beautiful. This movie is a visual treat and again, feels mythical. "Imperare sibi maximum imperium est." – Seneca
