I went into this movie with lukewarm expectations, and they were, pun intended, shot out of the water!
The movie was beautiful, visually and within the storytelling. I at first thought that the writers were shoving in representation, but they made it make sense. The daughters of Triton come from the seven seas, so they fit the ocean they come from.
Any lyric changes werenโt as invasive, and the rumor of Eric breaking the moment by asking Arielโs consent to kiss her is a complete lie.
The romantic moments were beautiful, and there were some new, clever moments that built Eric and Arielโs relationship.
Prince Eric wasnโt my favorite out of the princes, but the actor and how he portrayed the character made me fall in love with the character!
I thought Arielโs performance was incredible, and the way she explored and tried new things in the human world was cute.
Sebastian had a lot of cute and funny moments that made me laugh.
Ursula was a QUEEN!!
Overall, the film had a folklore feel, and gave me nostalgia of my imagination whenever I would take vacations as a kid. I wasnโt sure at first, but I personally thought it was worth it.
