Iโm not one to jump on the bandwagon but this series has sucked,
Season 2 has been dreadful, good in places for sure but considering the high level of storytelling in the game, for me personally, they had every opportunity to expand on that within the series but if anything theyโve reduced it, squashing any real emotional connection to characters,
Suppose itโs just preference but Iโm a big fan of both games, probably my favourites Iโve ever played and for me, the series hasnโt lived up to it at all
The thing that bugged me the most, is them not filling in the gaps as a TV series,
20 years passed between the opening scene in S1E1 just like the game, however they had all the opportunity to start building on a story between that time, building character development and having a stronger emotional connection with Joel, making what happened to him hit home even harder,
Understandably, Ellie is the core of the game and the hope for humanity but I genuinely feel like they could of waited until the end of Season 1 to introduce Ellie, leaving it on somewhat of a โcliff hangerโ and going into the story of what we know for Season 1, for Season 2.
This also applies to the 5 years that passed between what happened with the fireflies and salt lake, yes I know there will be flash backs but as a TV series, thereโs massive opportunity to create their own content within the time that has elapsed.
Side note, I was pissed they never included the High School mission in Bills Town or the Hotel scene where Joel and Ellie get separated in the first game, straight up, that was heart pounding the first time I played that.
