I have been a Pink Floyd addict all my life. One of the main reasons were those clear cut gilmouristic guitar solos, Rick Wrights psychedelic keyboard journeys, the magic of Nick Masons' drumming and, of course, these Roger Waters lyrics that become part of any human DNA.
I also was fascinated by Pink Floyds' absolute coldness, the menace, the dark side with hospital beds crashing into the stage. I adored, at the same time, the minimalism of masterpieces like "animals".
And now... well.
I am grateful that the "redux downgrade" did not occur to "animals". Sorry Roger Waters... any artist has the absolute right to re-invent what he once has created.
But "DSOM redux", in spite of the undoubted competence of the fellow musicians, is an absolute failure. A kind of fairy tale record, spoken by an old, but only part time wise man. In David Gilmours and Nick Masons' place, I would be angry on this attempt to destroy Pink Floyds eternity and universe.
