What was this? No seriously, what was this? This movie could only be described as a disappointment. Even if I overlook the musical direction (which was trying too hard to be modern and as such fell into the unfortunate category of what I would hear in a library of free music generated by AI), the actual movie concluded in such a dull and anticlimactic way. Has the scriptwriter ever seen a time travel movie before? For such a significant plot device, it's almost completely ignored.
The villains and heroes were unimpressionable except maybe Ella. I honestly think I'll forget this movie within the next few hours. If you wanted something like a continuation of Descendants 3, spare yourself this movie. It's a completely different vibe. More cinematic, less of the kitschy and lovably cringe elements that I loved from the first three. This unfortunately means that the cringe elements and poor dialogue evidenced by Maddox Hatter, Red, and Chloe stand out like being pricked with a needle instead of a playful tickle.
If you're looking for a magic school with a similar vibe but better plotline, acting, and costumes, check out the School of Good & Evil.
