The book “5 Killer Habits” has turned from just a simple assignment to an unexpected source of inspiration. It left me with a much needed self actualisation and a sudden urge to change the way I have been living.
In my opinion, the most fascinating thing about the book is that it is not one of your cliche guides to success. Most guides just advise the readers to inculcate good habits in their lifestyles and draw a path of what to do and what not to do. This book stands apart from them and is extraordinary in the way that by the end of it, the reader feels convinced to ingrain such positive endeavours in his life. The anecdotes shared about the reader and his friends, the lessons taken out of history and lives of successful people, the surveys, statistics and the data showcased in favour of every optimistic virtue discussed in the book is more than enough to budge us towards following the right path. It also gives the author credibility for his words and acts as a testimony to how well versed he is about the principles he is sharing.
I went through a lot of emotions while reading the book. The author talked about the harsh realities of the world in terms of cruelty towards humans, animals and environment which filled my heart with sadness. His experience of solo trips left me intrigued, the cases discussed about reading caught me in amazement and his ideals about our identity being separate from religion made me feel empowered and more open minded.
The author talks about his mistakes, his failures and his lowest points in life which represents his courage and honesty. It gives the readers a chance to learn from his downfalls. He also shows his tenacity by writing about how he didn’t give up and creating ten fold income of what he initially began with. His growth acts as a major learning curve for the readers.
In conclusion, the book has proved to become a turning point in my life. In the past few days, I have initiated work on all the habits I have learnt and I am planning on continuing them for a long period. The best part is, I don’t even have to force myself to do these things but rather, I want to, after reading all the examples and facts.
