For anyone wanting to watch this movie for a great story: Donโt.
Do yourself a favor and read the original books (if you havenโt already) because itโs a much better story than this.
As for you, Disney:
Congratulations on completely destroying one of the greatest book series from a lot of childhoods.
You took every character with an already amazing character arc, stripped them of what made them who they are, and gave us a generic by-the-book โHollywoodโ story with NO aspects retained from the source material.
Knowing how you guys handle Intellectual Property, there will NEVER be a proper adaptation of the book because anyone who tries will be obliterated in court.
I liked the book for the fact that Holly Short was a strong tough woman. I was excited to show this movie to my daughter, and have it shape who she is as she grows up. But you took that from me so you could make a quick buck.
I understand the original book wasnโt necessarily inline with your company values, and thatโs fine. But if it wasnโt for you, you should have left it alone.
I know itโs not much, but I can assure you, you donโt be getting a dime from me ever in the future.
The saddest part to me, is that this affront to a good story will probably do well numbers-wise because of the quarantine and the fact that is it being released right to stream. As such, you wonโt refrain from obliterating good stories in the future.
Screw you guys.
Sincerely, a disappointed book reader.
