While picking up our tickets we were behind a woman with a couple of younger kids who had been in an earlier screening of Shazam! and it was clear the kids were upset. It's PG-13 for a reason. She wanted her money back. The theater manager didn't have any obligation to do so. After watching the movie I could understand her issue: it was marketed as a family film, funny, kids involved. I'm here to tell you it is ALL of these things but it still has its evil component and it isn't innocent. I wouldn't take a child under 13 to this unless they are *seriously* seasoned superhero/ scary villain involved connoisseurs. Some of the imagery is very upsetting. I could see why those kids with tear streaked faces got that way. However! This movie is absolutely fabulous! I 100% recommend it- to kids who can handle it and parents who do their homework.
