The Old Guard 2 had all the ingredients for something great: a solid cast, an intriguing premise, and the momentum of a successful first film. But somewhere between script and screen, it lost its way.
The plot felt scattered, lacking both depth and cohesion. Scenes that shouldโve landed emotionally or narratively just drifted by, leaving me bored and disconnected. At one point, I actually paused the movie to go watch something elseโjust to stay awake.
There were occasional flashes of solid action, but they were few and far between, buried under layers of bland, meandering dialogue and flat pacing. The writing often felt lazy, like the creators were just trying to push it through post-production without any real heart or creativity behind it.
Charlize Theron and Uma Thurman are A-list talents who did what they could, but even their presence couldnโt salvage a script this uninspired. It's frustrating to watch great actors bogged down by weak storytelling.
It honestly felt rushedโlike they were just trying to get it out the door. Hereโs hoping The Old Guard 3 can make up for this misstep and bring the series back to the standard it deserves.
