No doubt one’s age matters in terms of how this film lands. The profound effect of the central event on the three characters individually is brilliantly wrought, honest and expected and yet unexpected at the same time. Especially the son, who’s explanation, for starters, of How the “loss” of a parent would effect his life is extraordinary. This is a thinking persons movie, a reflection on the choices we make and the consequences, for ourselves, and on those closest to us. The more deeply we can internalize our choices the better off we’ll be to live our lives
