It definitely felt slow as other have mentioned. I found the writing style really interesting, but the plot definitely dragged. My main issue though lies within the mood of the book. The story was a major bummer 100% of the time. I’ve seen many laud this book as a feminist/womens-empowerment novel, but all I saw was a woman being mistreated and abused over and over and over and never getting the chance to take a stand. She NEVER gets a win. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy sad books. But there has to be some level of balance between tragedy and hope to keep the reader interested. If you enjoy reading stories of women being abused and mistreated, this is the book for you.
