A few cliches throughout horror movies are here, that's probably this series biggest drawback. But think, those cliches were bound to have started somewhere and a few just happen to exist in the Children of the Corn series. Such as the overly dramatic screaming of the adults being killed in the cafe, as one of many examples.
However, moving past a few cliches the movie is solid enough for 80's horror flicks and horror flicks in general. However while I can't pound the movie too much just because of a few cliches there still remains one glaring plot hole that's probably the biggest reason for knocking a whole star off. Following the story laid forth here supposedly no-one from outside this small town ever knew about the events and occurrences except a limited number of passerbys who were all merely victims? Yeah, somehow that's a big negative on the believability chart. The disappearance and murder of an entire town, small or not, simply doesn't get undetected until by chance a random passerby escapes being the next victim. That aspect certainly lacks a great deal of credibility even if it is necessary for the plot to exist.
Ok, moving on. A few cliches aside and a glaring plot hole the big redeeming factor here is the acting among the kids and the 2 adults who escape, eventually. It also helps that it's coming from a great story teller like Stephen King. It's something of a curiosity if nothing else, but also not a complete waste of time for horror fans. Should you watch this? If you like good horror flick and have yet to see this then sure. Don't analyze it, just watch it.
