LN3 falls painfully short from LN1 and LN2. This critique is not about the fact that new devs developed it and worked on it nor will I ever compare it to Reanimal because that is unfair. However, there were 4 years and 8 months between the release of LN2 and LN3 and the game was disappointing.
LN3 felt underdeveloped, underwhelming, and easy to finish. It took forever to release and this led me to believe the team was working hard on producing a project that would live up to its predecessors. However, when I finished it I was left thinking "is that it?" AI was used and scenes were repurposed, concepts are not new or groundbreaking so why did it take so long to release?
I remember what made LN1 and LN2 so exciting was that it kept you on the edge of your seat. You got hints into this horrible world "Nowhere" and you're able to piece together the story based off these clues. The monsters are terrifying and you develop an attachment to Six and Mono. I can't say there was a moment where I was biting my nails playing LN3. The "puzzles" (if you can call them that) were easy to complete and consisted of moving boxes, cutting down rope, pushing buttons.
We also thought it would be couch co-op or cross platform but it's neither. I was excited to play the game with my partner and it was a huge disappointment in the end. The graphics and character designs are beautiful but that doesn't justify the price when you consider the storyline is garbage and the playtime is under 4 hours if you know what you're doing. Not worth it.
If you really want to play, wait a year or two for the price to go down.
