First: Disney seemed to take the advice of a 20 something marketing intern and pushed a bunch of the AI bot reviews on here. Word for word duplicates? Really Disney??? Come on… The movie: PLOT: uninspired. It was boring and disjointed with poor character development. This felt like it was written by a teenager who needed procrastinated on a paper that was due the next morning. VISUALS: A+, stunning and better than ever. CULTURE: more accurate portrayal of poly tattoos and traditions, this was a plus. MUSIC: massive fail. The first one, via Lin Manuel Miranda, was immediately a classic. This, was a struggle. Listening to The Rock try to get through the cheehoo song was painful. Every song just fell flat and was immediately forgettable. Bear + Barlow: please do not write anymore soundtracks, like ever. Overall this felt like a cheap cash grab by Disney to pump out merch rather than a genuine effort to continue an amazing storyline. Moana deserved better. Watch it if you want but then watch the first one over again as a pallet cleanser.
