I like the character Reacher in book form! The series Reacher-from the endless comments about his size to the impossible gun, fire and explosion resolutions to the story was overkill!

Navaho slice of life. A city cousin reluctantly meets a country cousin when both spend a summer in New Mexico on the rez with their Navaho-speaking grandmother, disgruntled rodeo-riding uncle and auntie whom they love but comes and goes! Nothing spectacular happens. Just two kids discovering who and what they are. Sheep, rug weaving and a baby’s first smile play an important part in their lives away from home. Written and directed by Billy Luther with Executive Producer Taika Waititi- what’s not to love!

Exhausting, 14 spoken words, self-forgiveness!

Hi Was partway through Ann Cleeves book when I learned it also was a TV series. Have read and watched Vera and Shetland. A big fan of Shetland. If The Long Call was anything like Shetland-it’d be well worth watching! So I put the book aside. Sone reviewers who said they couldn’t understand a couple of the actors-I never have that problem because I watch everything with closed caption on. The book starts with a call about a dead body on a beach. The series starts with a religious person washing a dead body in a bed and went downhill from there. The acting was wooden. The storyline dragged. The background music depressing! So disappointing after Vera and Shetland series. Sorry but after the first episode-I went back to the book.

The series is six episodes-fast and furious! Because of its brevity-there is so much backstory we aren’t privy to. Who is 5-8! Why did the major and her sister illegally take in a refugee! Who is grandpa and the three boys-Useless, Dum-Dum and Dummy- the shakespearean chorus and comic relief until it isn’t! 5-8 and the Major are fine in their roles but the refugee/mutant/5-7 steals the show! What is his story? The fight scenes are outstanding but regretted all the gun power! I binge watched and went back a second time to better understand the class structure and the dichotomy between the delivery men and the government! Who wanted what?! Found the last episode anti-climatic-too rushed! Definitely needed more episodes but don’t let that stop you from watching it!

Tried-but when the 3rd episode started and he took down the hatchet from the wall-I called it quits. Enjoy him in Guardians of the Galaxy but he’s out of his league acting-wise in this.

Tense, edge of the seat film with top actors. A little long at 2 1/2 hours. Some hard-to-watch scenes-which can only be described as torture. Plot holes and/or no explanations abound. Ignore them and enjoy the film!

Finally got through the eighth episode-hoping finally-all the unanswered situations will be answered. I had repeated parts of other episodes because something would happen and I think-“Wait a minute why is that happening-when did they say that, who is that”? When the knife that started everything-reappears in the eighth episode as if it was not a big deal -I thought-“What the …”! Storyline was basically set around two questions- why did someone commit suicide-that led to the mental breakdown of another person and who killed at least 8 people. At the end of eight episodes-one was partially resolved and the other-wasn’t. Other situations arose that were left hanging. Perhaps the unanswered will be resolved in season two- but for me, one season was enough. I honestly felt as if I was sleepwalking through the series. When did that, who did that…Sorry.
