Amid all the controversies surrounding I was curious to see the movie and wanted to see what it is all about but when I saw the whole movie I was disappointed. The movie was not based on any real event which could make the movie appealing to me the fighting scenes too were slow and lacked much visual impact on audience and in every scene they would show slow motion. Honest reason is I only supported the movie initially as it was based on Sikhism just like every proud Hindu would do the same for any movie be it on Marathas, Ramayana or Mahabharata but the theme, the portrayal showed any lack of substance in the movie and I am giving 3 stars just because Gippy Grewal tried and I am a big fan of Gippy's singing. First of all let's be crystal clear the movie was no where near Chaar Sahibzade direction level even if marketing and promotion level or ticket costs or box office collections get high get this straight as Sikhs had real emotions attached with Chaar Sahibzade based on real historic depiction of sons of Kalgidhar Dashmesh Pita. Being a Sikh I still support the movie and I think it cannot be said as best movies on Sikh History but it could have been better with some fictional masala and entertainment.
And there are so many real life heroes on our Sikh Misls too whom a movie could have been made after Banda Singh Bahadur movie made by Harry Baweja like Nawab Kapur Singh,Jassa Singh Ahluwalia,Baghel Singh,Maharaja Ranjit Singh,Jassa Singh Ramgarhia and supreme commanders like Hari Singh Nalwa. Why not a movie based on Novel Sundri? Why not animated movie on Sikh female warriors after detailed study like Mata Bhag Kaur/Mai Bhago,Rani Sada Kaur. Where is Nidhan Singh Panj Hatha,Akali Phula Singh? We have lost our culture totally and I am not afraid to say this, in Delhi metro train still there is reading culture among youths regarding novels and those novels get into movies obviously as it surpasses in form of art such as movie
