tl;dr - Go in with mediocre expectations and be surprised. Movie sets out with decent goals and achieves it with flying colours.
Went in with very low expectations (2nd time watching a Russian movie in recent years. The last one was some horror and that was horrible) and just wanted to kill time.
Ended up being sucked in. It doesn't have a super convoluted or mind-blowing storyline. It does have it twists. Coming from mostly western sci-fy, the action sequences and war atmosphere was great! The showcase of technology was also really believable.
For those who are sensitive to women empowerment, some scenes might be triggering. Not that I think the directors or writers are intentionally sexist. But it's just a display of cultural differences.
