When watching this series, I urge you to not make the comparison to Band of Brothers. Yes, BoB is still a phenomenal miniseries but in terms of themes portrayed, BoB does focus on the bonds formed through the trials and tribulations of Easy Company, essentially making them one of the most notable units in the European Theater of War, whereas The Pacific does not focus on one unit but rather three Marine Regiments in the 1st Marine Division, and planned to emphasize the true extent of what war was like with the Japanese as your adversary in the Pacific Theater of War.
With that said, The Pacific manages to portray just that as some of the scenes are visceral, heart-wrenching, and horrifying. Sure, we don't get to follow the same people all throughout the series given that they have separate arcs to fulfill but it shouldn't detract from the ultimate goal which is to be as historically authentic as possible in illustrating war and its costs to the individual fighting it.
