This is a loving a moving tribute to Hong Kong's most iconic, and dare I say, most outstanding of female pop singers that graced the Cantopop scene back in the late great 80s and 90s. It's almost next to impossible to squeeze everything of Anita Mui's life into a 2hr plus movie, so viewers, especially die-hard fans of Anita Mui must temper their expectation. Her life was just way too colourful, too exciting and just too happening to compress into a movie. For certain demographic groups like mine, this brings us back to a time when Hong Kong music and entertainment was the top of the game in East Asia, when Hong Kong was the cultural beacon that everyone was looking at for inspiration. A worthy movie deemed appropriate for Best Picture status.
