It's obvious that the writers of this show just purchased a bunch of books from the folk horror genre and compiled a very rough narrative together to make this show. The series uses names from Harvest home by Thomas Tryon, which is straight up lazy. The story is also not new or original, not that I can moan about that, as netflix generally doesn't care what they release, as long as it makes money, so plagerising from literature is not below them. What really annoys me about the show however, is the writing itself. It's bad. The actors are great, but they're performing a story that just lacks impact and sometimes just doesn't make sense, for example, let's get a crowed of people to clap whilst looking at a character, have the character disappear but have none of the appluading spectators notice, because we can't figure out how else to get said character into the next scene. Also, the twist at the end is lame. Just read Harvest home instead, it's better in every way.
