This book has bridged many gaps in my knowledge. It explains and contextualises, origins, migrations, relationships and histories of the peoples of Europe, from a broad perspective, and makes one appreciate that Europe extends far beyond its present narrow geopolitical confines.
It examines in an interesting and all encompassing fashion, the influences, reasons behind, and effects of developments outside central Europe upon the civilisations with which we think we are familiar.
All this is explained from an archaeological standpoint, juxtaposing accepted history with supporting or contrary physical evidence, and highlighting the chronological differences between the developments of independent European peoples and of more ancient civilisations in Africa and Asia.
