Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition is a major improvement from the original Xenoblade Chronicles. Where the first Xenoblade exceeded at the most was its worldbuilding and story and in my opinion; outclassing most jrpgs and all other Xeno titles. The graphical improvement from the original to the definitive edition was astounding, making the cutscenes and world in general feel much more alive. This game is a 10/10 to me, and even if you aren't huge on rpgs, or even Japanese media for that matter, I highly recommend it for its rich storytelling. The way it handles foreshadowing outclasses all other media in my opinion. Its epic and string-rich soundtrack is also top tier and worth listening to even outside the game itself. The combat even for an rpg is unique in the fact that its not only real-time, but that it even has a unique mechanic which lets you see the future mid-battle on occasion, which essentially lets you see enemy AI if you were not to do anything, which can be incredible and fun for difficult battles. I will say there are a couple of small downsides to Xenoblade Chronicles 1/DE. One of them is the fact that the world is so big at times that it can feel like you are traveling for a while, but the game tries to somewhat combat this issue by letting you fast-travel, collect items, and enjoy beautiful day/night cycle scenery as you explore. The second and final small issue I had with Xenoblade Chronicles 1/DE, was the fact that some of the quests can be tedious and repetitive. Fortunately, you can basically play through the game without doing most or even any sidequests with very little negatives(Most of the time you are equal level to where the game wants you to be at by the time you reach that point in the story, the game requires little to medium grinding and exploring even, however I found both of those things incredibly fun). All in all, Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition is just as good as the Original Xenoblade Chronicles, with added perks like incredible graphic improvements and minor battle improvements. My favorite part about the Definitive Edition however was the remastered soundtrack which is just "chefs kiss". This game is 100% worth the buy. Enjoy this masterpiece if you do buy it for yourself! :)
