Phoenix Star

This is coming from an autistic person, who has watched this movie without letting the drama surrounding it alter my opinion on it. With that said, this movie was a boring viewing experience for me and I’m shocked that the movie hasn’t been banned yet. The writing is terrible, the misinformation on autism is disgusting, the visuals, while professionally made, aren’t even safe for a large portion of the autism community to watch as it contains very bright colours and flashing lights, the characters are morally horrible and Maddie’s poor performance as Music is as offensive as everyone thought it would be. Yes, there is some good acting, good choreography, interesting concepts and great songs but that doesn’t stop this from being a poorly executed movie.

This show is literally art. The animation: amazing. The story: clever and original. The musical numbers: awesome. The characters: brilliantly written. The voice acting: perfect. The humour: hilarious. This is how you write an adult comedy. Ignore what the haters say. Yes it’s ‘repulsive.’ Yes it shows the characters doing drugs, prostitution etc but remember, they’re demons in an ADULT COMEDY. If the characters were complete saints, the premise would be ruined because the audience would be thinking “why are they in Hell?” This is why the humour is so dark. To strengthen the atmosphere and tone the show needs to represent Hell. If you keep this in mind, you’ll get A LOT of enjoyment of this. You’ll probably find the characters so lovable that you may have a crush on one of them (*cough* Angel Dust *cough*). I definitely recommend this to people who enjoy extremely black humour and wackiness.
