Does exactly what a great thriller a la Hitchcock or Graham Greene is supposed to: gets you interested in some caring people, hooks you with a life-or-death first plot point, builds tension to unnerving heights, and resolves the plot in a totally unexpected and tragic way. Don't expect fun and games, or a movie that lets our society off the hook for its treatment of teens, divorces, or helicopter parenting.
