I followed advice of others online and watched The Intouchables first (In fact, watched it twice). I LOVED that movie and thought the actors were fantastic. Since I had never seen any of the actors before, they all were very believable in their roles. (I did not even mind the subtitles, although was wishing I knew French). I think perhaps it would have been better to have seen The Upside without first seeing the French version, only because I kept comparing the two. Both movies tell a wonderful heartwarming story. However, were scenes from the original that were changed or deleted. For example, the bathtub scene showing Driss trying to take a bath at his familyโs apartment in a very small tub with lots of screaming kids running around...and then he is shown his own tub in Phillipeโs Apartment. He also goes on his first plane ride in Phillipeโs private jet. The Upside played the race card more than the Intouchables...that version was more wealth vs. poverty. I did really enjoy both movies, but liked the French version better. Having said that, either and/or both are worth seeing!
