The very heavy reliance on CGI makes this adaptation a pale imitation of its predecessors (even those made without any computer wizardry). I really wasn’t impressed. Strangely, Julie Walters character changes her accent half way through (though I’ve always considered her a one-trick pony) and if it wasn’t for the different wig, this could have been any of the other productions she’s been in post Educating Rita. I shouldn’t have bothered. Not recommended.

Oh dear. Despite a great cast, Disney manages to mess this version up miraculously. Fiddling with Oscar Wilde's original was totally unnecessary. It's a weak, big budget mistake that's wrong on so many levels. Proof that classic works should NOT be tampered with. For a much better interpretation, watch the 1952 Anthony Asquith directed masterpiece played to the highest standard of camp attainable.

The look and feel is great. Terrific cast who all give great performances. No spoilers from me except to say I wish they hadn’t used the Rock Hudson character. Another name (even similar sounding) would have sufficed. Rotten Tomatoes gave it 5.6/10 - I give it 7/10. If you love old Hollywood you should see this.
