The Little Mermaid - one of the classic Disney was remade into a more modern day tale. Sadly, I thought the story was lacking something. To me, it felt more than a little disjointed and didn't explain very much. Why did Locke need the power of a mermaid? Was it because of his greed for power? Or was there something else in motion? His immortality, a curse - how did he become to be the evil villian? A storybook reading for the film was ingenious as everyone knows the book and the tales that have originated from Hans Christian Andersen's work. I score this movie a 4/10. I can see what it was trying to do, by engaging in a what if scenario, how far are we really willing to stretch our imaginations? Do mermaids really exist? Are they at the bottom of the ocean where no-one has ventured? And so I leave you with this question, if mermaids do exist or did exist, will you be able to spot one? Anything is possible as long as you believe but believing in yourself, now that is truly magic.
