Great show and great people on set. (I've been an extra.) The writing has stayed strong despite being past the 5th season hump. (Most TV shows fall out by then.)

"Bruh" is a good idea with bad execution. We have always imagined a male version of "Girlfriends" or "Sex And The City", but this ain't it. One major reason is that Tyler Perry refuses to bring back his writing staff. (He had a writing team for some of his past sitcoms.) He's a self-taught, self-contained writer, so he doesn't understand the importance of having multiple ideas floating around. It's evident that Tyler Perry doesn't have a lot of male friends. Male friendships are not this sentimental in real life. While some men are emotionally vulnerable, most of us don't engage in this type of banter. As a man in his 30s, I know that we don't use the term "Bruh" that much. That's why I expected more from this show. The actors seem like nice guys in real life, though.

The casting isn't good. It looks like a prime-time Disney soap opera. It's too cheesy. This is the perfect example of "good idea, bad execution." The Council of Dads functions more as a trio of space-fillers than surrogate fathers. It's like Hollywood tries to bunch demographics together to get viewers. I love diversity but it can't be presented as a gimmick. Diversity must be showcased with sensitivity and thoughtfulness. This feels more like a TV miniseries that needs a central problem that the Council of Dads can help solve.

It was a good film. One of the challenges is adapting a stage play to the screen. Another problem is that the stage play writer (JC Lee) isn't black, so the dialogue comes off cheesy. However, it is an entertaining thriller with very little violence. It could easily be adapted to a television series if they want to milk it more. Octavia disappoints in this one, though. While I was happy to see her play somebody in present day America instead of a 1960s maid/receptionist, I still expected more. Everybody else was okay, but Tim and Naomi were not believable as a married couple.
