Most of the reviewers here are going to miss the fact that a surreal plot is quite literally very likely to be a dream. Thus they'll be expecting to take the movie as beholden to the horror genre as though it were somehow religiously beholden.
Free the context and free the film. I found it to be remarkably refreshing and could easily see it's dreamy appeal to a feminist audience.
