POTENTIAL SPOILERS
While the movie works if all you're looking for is a nostalgia trip, the movie doesn't do anything interesting creatively choosing instead to spend its entire run-time simply referencing the original trilogy or just straight up addressing issues fans had with The Last Jedi.
The main issue that this movie has is that it sets a troubling precedent. If fans hate it enough, then they essentially control how the rest of the series goes, regardless of how they express their hatred. Pretty much every little issue hardcore stans of the series was rolled back and/or forcibly addressed. The worst of them being how they treated Kelly Marie Tran's character, Rose. Fans essentially bullied her into quitting social media because of how much they hated Rose in The Last Jedi. Instead of standing by their talent they chose to reduce her role so drastically that it's basically just a formality. Disney could have chosen to take a stand against toxic fandoms but caved in instead.
This movie will forever be marred by all the backlash to TLJ that preceded it. Watch it just for the sake of finishing the trilogy and nothing else.
