First off, let's start off with the great things in the movie! The animation was beautiful, character design was great, the movie is very visually appealing. The songs are really good, 'We Don't Talk About Bruno' will be stuck in my head for the rest of the week. I liked the diversity between characters, and how they all stand out even though the family is big. (they stand out to the audience, anyway.) The movie revolves around family and generational trauma, and I think both were depicted accurately.
However, there's a few things that I didn't love about Encanto. My biggest issues were with the pacing of the movie and (in my opinion) an unsatisfactory ending. I think the movie went by really fast in most scenes, but then went by so slowly in others. Due to this pacing issue, it left me with a few different questions that never got answered. And without giving major spoilers, the ending made me go "what? That's it?" And made the whole experience feel incomplete. I think encanto is definitely a movie to watch on disney+, but it isn't the greatest film on the streaming service. Makes me glad I didn't go see it in theaters like I originally wanted to.
