Awesome show. Very disappointed with the judges review of Dereks cake. The three cakes were phenom so had no special person I wanted to win My issue is with the judges saying Derek’s only misstep was not having banana flavor. He used Banana chips obviously for crunch. Banana chips is made from green bananas it’s not plantain where there is green and ripe plantain chips. Banana chips is solely from green banana. It can never give banana flavor to a cake. Green banana flavor is completely different from ripe bananas. In the Caribbean we boil green bananas it pretty much takes the flavor of your meat when mixed. So if banana flavor was what made him lose then that’s a big shame and this would be a lack of knowledge in the part of the judges. I also found that at some points during the competition it was based on the judges preference for food if they did not like ginger they marked down etc rather than authentically judging the food on the merit of what it was. Still loved the show. So happy for Keya. She works her butt off.
