I didn't hate this movie. It sure was a strange ending and because I enjoyed movies like "Tremors" and what I know Thomas Jane best from "Dreamcatchers" I was really enjoying this movie in general as a favorite pastime genre I used to enjoy. So I tried not to judge the ending, as confused as it left me. I just wondered why that ending and tried to keep an open mind about it. I also thought, yeah that's life sometimes, but I also thought well the issue was also that the military never warned anyone they passed in the beginning to let the town people know what they were doing so that the town people could have something to hope for...I was making up excuses to be okay with the ending. And it still left me searching for "why that ending?" on google. So I learned from watching interviews and the making of the movie that this was made in 2007...was there not much to fear in 2007? I don't know what the world was like in 2007 because I was going through my own personal trauma but maybe in 2007 who could have predicted the downfall of mankind this quickly?...with pandemic, and then ongoing housing crisis, war, climate change, monkeypox, gun violence, etc...it's a really dreary time right now and this is not the type of ending many of us could use right now but considering it was made in 2007, it was a different time. It was nice to be watching a movie that was just weird (in a good way) with all of the creatures, even though I was not a fan of the ending...more movies like this please with a more hopeful and happy ending would be lovely ๐
