I already appreciated the dark and ominous story before I looked into the meaning, but definitely the most intriguing part is the psychology behind Montresor's actions and the speculation as to what his motive might be. Also, there are incredible examples of irony and symbolism in the story (and I can really appreciate some dark irony ;)
