I have played and watched all Mortal Kombats since release. If you are looking for the story driven lore in Mortal Kombat please do not waste your time with this movie. They attempted to over gore the movie to try to match the games, continuously got the lore wrong, and the plot itself was boring and left me feeling regret that I wasted time even watching it in the first place. I was hoping for a fresh new take on the Mortal Kombat genre. This is not it. Save yourself time and go watch the very first Mortal Kombat movie, it is still the only one worth watching.
