Careful with this one. If you weren't a fan of Diablo 3, more a Diablo 2 fan.. you might want to save your money before giving it to Blizzard and realizing later, f me, I made a huge mistake. Here's my experience. I played in the beta windows, slam or whatever. Game was 'ok', I played a couple characters only because I have limited time, family and all. So I caved and bought it, based on my beta time. It wasn't great but I could make a couple iterrations of a character. Then I bought it. Worked to get my character back to what it was.. Something seemed wrong, my character just not having impact as before. Checked my notes, yep, and so I went to talk to others. Hearing they nerfed this and that? Really?! Was my response..nerfing is such a lazy way to fix it. Rather than rebalance it with a lot of testing, they nerfed the chars and abilities. That left me with maybe another build, but then realized that the skill was also nerfed. Literally ruining a character and leaving one path to be truly devastating. I was super turned off. Tried another itteration of my char and that failed too. But then I did what I usually don't do, look at guides.. And I came to realiztion the char is way too limited. So I put in refund to Blizzard.. Here was the brief response.
It's digitial version, makes things hard. They said. Gee, you got my money digitally? So whats the problem. Oh if I had physical copy, be easier. ( the game was not sold locally in physical form, in fact most stores don't even stock physical.). So I responded back I'm not surprised of their response but... (the cookie cutter response, which he accidentally copied a line twice in his reply. It's just very representative of this game. You want cookie cutter chars.. buy D4. I prefer Path of Exile, still clearly the best around with way more indepth character creation. In fact D4 made me go back to PoE which I stopped playing years ago..)
My next reply I got back was that, I played Diablo IV for more than 2hrs and because of that, they can't refund me the game. Ha, by this time I knew I wan't getting my money back. (I knew I didn't have a shot in hell, this whole thing was more for personal recreation). The sad reality is, they are admitting to the depth of the game. They seem to think you can evaluate Diablo IV in 2hrs....That alone should tell ya something. You are nowhere in this in 2hrs.. I attempted making other characters to get around nerfs.. that's where my time was spent.
If you are interested in Diablo IV. Make sure you watch gameplay videos, research the depth of character creation. Games aren't getting cheaper. Better to do your due research.. While their marketing campaign is strong there is a LOT of unhappy gamers. Don't be deceived.
But I thank Blizzard too, because I really was hoping Diablo IV met my expecations. When it didn't, it made me re-think a return to Path of Exile I have hundreds of hours playing, many varied characters. Hell there is a ton of content more than last I played. And Path of Exile 2 is right around the corner.
2 stars is for gfx only. And especially for this game, even gfx don't make this game. Really, the gfx are not any better than Path of Exile..
