I recently watched this documentary and was struck by how it portrayed the rescue efforts. The film made it seem like every person of color was being left behindโeither not picked up by helicopters or not saved from flooded homes. However, after watching another documentary on Hurricane Katrina from National Geographic, which included actual video footage from the time, I felt a huge contradiction between the two portrayals. The National Geographic documentary showed a very different perspective. Because of this, I walked away questioning the accuracy and balance of the Netflix version.
