The plot is hard to follow and almost nonexistent. There are lots of elaborate, pretentious, and over the top descriptions that take away from what little development is actually happening. The characters are extremely unlikeable and interact in absurd ways. I love a spooky tale but it honestly felt so ridiculous I couldn’t get into any of the horror. If you’re okay trudging throw obnoxious prose and a choppy plot then you might be able to tolerate it. 1 star because my husband and I got to bond over reading it. Like when you watch a movie that is so bad it’s an experience.
