I remember the series form the 70s but I was too young to appreciate it then. I have since revisited it several times (after first revisit I bought DVD collection) and can say each viewing is as enjoyable as the last. Sian Phillips' Livia is the most magnificent and diabolical screen villain I can think of. The only other series which springs to mind as comparable in stature is the original Tinker Tailor with Alec Guiness, and coming from me that is as high praise as I can offer.
