Jason Delvaux

This was a decent recovery from the horrible episode VIII. It still had a few head-shaking moments early on, but the emotion of bringing some of our favorite iconic characters back in meaningful ways definitely was satisfying. Humor seemed forced at times (when it wasn't coming from C-3PO). Overall better than I, II, and VII (and much better than VIII, of course), but still not as well done as IV, V, III, and VI -- hope you really like Roman numerals. When compared to how Endgame finished off the Marvel story arc, this falls woefully short. But, I still enjoyed the experience when I take this film by its own merits.

The movie itself is a magic trick. There are a series of Pledges, Turns, and Prestiges throughout the film. You get to see obsession & madness play itself out through the various character arcs, and you're never sure who you're supposed to root for (if anyone). Complex & clever with fantastic performances from an amazing cast. I saw it in the theater fifteen years ago, and just saw it for the second time. Nolan does some of his best work here.
