Reviewed this already and my review disappeared. But I will try again as this is an amazing film which is worthy of discussion and thought. The leads are excellent, the surreal story has depth and humour, the quasi Gothic setting suitably blends beauty with the grotesque. The cinematography includes a nod to the illustrative talents of Alasdair Gray whose novel the film is based. A unique and imaginative work of art. It does contain lots of sex scenes which might upset some people. But the women are not objectified and emerge as the stronger sex.
