--GOOGLE REVIEWS--
A non-insignificant proportion of the 5 star reviews seem to be quite clearly AI-generated.
Out of those 5-star reviews that seem more natural, noticeably many fall within the category of reviews where the review in question is the only Google review that the reviewer has ever given.
A number of '5 star reviews' acknowledge areas of improvement/ things that were not so great;
A) Why give it 5 stars if one has acknowledged areas of improvement?
B) Does the reviewer understand how the star rating system works for most people?
C) Can I trust this review[er]?
The negative Google user reviews generally display a common theme:
- The show is [very] poorly written;
- Incoherent plot;
- The characters have little depth;
- Disregard for original lore;
- The acting is not convincing;
- Concerns regarding 'woke'-ness.
--AUDIENCE VS CRITIC REVIEW PLATFORMS--
Metacritic and Rotten tomatoes display an extreme spread between Critic review scores and audience review scores:
Metacritic - Critic score 67 - Audience 3.9
Rotten Tomatoes - Critic score: 80% - Audience: 17%
--CONCLUSION--
The show seems to be suffering from poor audience reception. There are indicators of positive review/ rating manipulation and fake/unnatural promotion on Google reviews, as well as review bombing. There is a very large spread between Critic scoring (positive) and Audience scoring (extremely negative).
