I watched Kingdom. My instinct was right. It didnโt live up to the expectations built around it. Despite the year-long effort that reportedly went into its making, the final product left me quite underwhelmed.
The film struggled with a lack of emotional depth and narrative cohesion. The script felt disjointed, and there was a noticeable absence of sincerity in the storytelling. While I understand every actor and filmmaker evolves with time, this project felt like a step back for Vijay Deverakonda rather than forward.
What surprises me most is how history seems to be repeating itself. After showing so much promising work in Pelli Chuppulu (a personal favourite of mine for it's charm and authenticity, the one and only) Vijay Deverakonda's script choices since then have been puzzling. It makes me wonder whoโs advising him to choose such scripts? ๐ค Because even as an average moviegoer, I wouldn't have picked this script.๐คฆ Stop blaming the director. Problem is with VD. Who agreed to the script? This isn't the first time though!
Lack of knowledge, lack of guidance and direction in choosing the right scripts, wrong influence, over confidence might have been the cause of such dilemma for VD. He definitely need to take a break from movies. By doing so, a fresh perspective could help realign things moving forward. Otherwise it's time he choose what best fits him.
The only person who did justice to his role was Satyadev. Very natural and excellent performance! Outshined the rest.
