I have never seen a game age so badly. These invincibility frames.... my god.... The production values were bad even for 1996. Story bad. Voice acting bad. Dialogue bad. Music bad. Levels bad. Inventory bad. Map bad. Shooting bad. Puzzles bad. A radio you never use that is stuffed into an inventory slot that you otherwise don't interact with for any reason at all.... bad.... The final puzzle of the game is literally picking up a battery and sticking it into an open slot not 20 feet away. This is then followed by picking up a flair which then summons a helicopter and the final boss. Why not use the radio that's stuffed into your inventory that you've been holding onto for the entirety of the video game to respond to a radio call you just received not 60 seconds prior? Why bother adding a radio item that you never use? How does using a book not immediately entail opening said book? What kind of creature doesn't understand the concept of "using a book"? How is "examine" and "use" so different that they completely change how you operate a book? Who thought of this? Why would anyone think to do this? I came into this, following Resident Evil 2, under the assumption that the two games played very similarly. That is just not true. RE2 and RE1 look similar. In reality, they are fundamentally different experiences. I spent several days just testing invincibility frames for enemies on this game. I can't even think of a sentence to describe how frustrating it is for half of your shots to completely phase through enemies because of how bugged their animations are. This is beyond the worst shooting I've ever seen in any game I've ever played. I give you this, reader, without a hint of exaggeration. This is the worst video game I've ever beaten. I've played hundreds upon hundreds of video games. This is by far.... the absolute worst piece of garbage I've ever encountered. If you doubt me in any way, take the time to watch a play through of this game. There are literally thousands of hours of recordings of people playing this god awful game. It is beyond trash.

This is the most imbecile thing that Square Enix has ever published. The game director actively worked against the writers and CGI developers to make the game's story contradict itself as hard as human imagination allows. The gameplay is simply atrocious. It is bad in every way that gameplay can be bad, inconsistent, badly conceptualized, badly executed, badly programmed, bad controls, bad camera, bad level design, bad boss fights, and so on and so forth. This is the single worst video game Square Enix has ever published. The only kind of creature that would even defend this revolting pile of nonsense, is one fundamentally incapable of comprehending human decency. This game is atrocious.
