The Book of Boba Fett feels like A) a MacGuffin, to explain why the Mandalorian would ever return to a world as boring and desolate at Tatooine, or two, a series that felt like a good idea, but that was based on a character with nothing to do.
We sat and mostly watched Boba Fett taking to people in the sand, all of whom were versions of characters we've seen a million times. There is no interesting storyline, save perhaps explaining why he's now a semi-good guy instead of a heel. Yay for the desert people. (I mean that sarcastically.)
Let's face it. We hate Tatooine. It's boring and ugly, and all of its citizens are boring and ugly (except Ming-Na Wen; she's 58???). The only redeeming part of the series is that most of the stars are approaching social security age. At least I can root for fellow old people.
Next time, try coming up with a new planet, new races, new something. This beast is just fan service, and not good fan service at that.
Keep in mind, however, that I find much of Star Wars to be corny, so if you're a True Fan, add a star to my review for that. I'd give The Mandalorian, 4 stars if you want to understand how this compares.
