This book has stayed with me in spirit ever since I finished it over 12 yrs ago. I fell in love with India and it's people in all their eclectic beauty. This book made me examine so many things about myself and in the end I knew that one day I would visit the country and as it turns out, I will receive a liver transplant there, G-d willing. When I learned that India is the place with many liver donors I hestitated at first because instantly I understood why and that it is highly likely that my liver will have been hatvasted under suspicious circumstances. In the end I have chosen to believe that it came from a willing donor. Please G-d may that be the case. You may now wonder does this book have anything to do with liver transplants. The answer is no, but in this book you will learn how the people at the bottom of their caste system are often used to help enrich the lives of those above them and that India is the epitome of bring born lucky. The characters is this book will steal your heart away and you will root for the under dog like never before but soon you will realize that hope is the only thing that many of these people own that us worth anything and in that you will find the goodness within humanity inspire of itself. I could not advocate for you to read this book more if I bought it for you. If you are on an island deserted you would trade almost anything for this book. It is that good!!
