This is not a secret. It's the same thing described in the earliest story of our separation from God. Eating from the tree of knowledge makes us like gods; and in a deceptive way, truly gods ourselves. It is exactly what the serpent wants and "ordering from the universe's catalog" is no more than naming the price for your soul, which you put up for sale by proclaiming yourself as the creator of your existence. The fact that it so often works does not disprove God; contrarily, it reinforces the idea of His existence, our separation from Him, and the realness of the "most cunning" and deceitful force out there. I would suggest not drinking too deeply from this poisonous cup.
