I haven't purchased a game at launch in a long time. After being pleasantly surprised by Doom 2016 (a must play), I am happy to report that I am currently being blown away by the sequel. Doom Eternal is must-play FPS that is full of non-stop full throttle action, secrets to explore everywhere, and a full-fledged story that doesn't suck. You have to use your head a bit more than the average shooter, cycling between your chainsaw, ice bomb and flamethrower to score precious loot. Our Doom Slayer is also much more mobile in this game and there is a lot of jumping and platforming that is refreshing and adds to the action. If you like smart, fast-paced shooters with a touch of adventure...buy this game and rip and tear until it is done.

Disclaimer: I am playing Starfield on a relatively high-end PC so your results may vary. I am so far very pleased with Starfield. The new IP from Bethesda is great and allows for new ideas and stories that reach beyond what the Fallout and Elder Scrolls could muster. After playing it for several hours, you get the feel for it and it kinda plays like Fallout really. Some people have complained about the lack of a VATS-like targeting system but I enjoy having to aim my own weapons and think the gun play is decent enough to not need VATS anyways. The space travel is ok and once you get the hang of it, you can zip around the systems pretty quickly. Some people have complained about the space travel, but I prefer to be able to move quickly through the systems and if I want to play around in space the option is there. Even though Bethesda had grand plans for Starfield that may have missed the mark, the price you pay for the game compared to the amount of time you can immerse yourself in the world justifies the price several times over. The Creation game engine is looking pretty good for its age and I bet this game goes on to be one of the best selling games of all time. You can pick the game apart like anything else if you want to, or you can enjoy it and be thankful we finally get a brand-spanking new IP from Bethesda that is in space. I for one am looking forward to sinking plenty of hours into this game and so should you. This is a must-play title for any Bethesda fan, period.
